The model-based approach which is used worldwide by IBM.
The IT Process Model ITPM is based on ISMA (Information Systems Management Architecture, documented in 1979 by IBMs Von Schaik). ISMA was one of the sources used by OGC, developing ITIL.
The IT Process Model is characterised not only by its difference from ITIL in the process division but also the related difference in wording. The IT Process Model is, on its own, not a model which can be practically applied. It is a framework in which an applicable model can be developed. A 'light' version has been developed for organizations who want to make a phased use of the model.
The Information Technology Process Model (ITPM) has been documented in the 'Guide to IT Service Management Volume I'.
